Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST) – Travel Contract

Location: Flushing, NY 11355

Schedule: Mid Shift | 5x8-Hour Shifts

Shift Timing: 03:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Contract Duration: 8 Weeks (Temp-to-Hire)

Job Overview

A leading acute care hospital in Flushing, NY is seeking an experienced Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST) for an 8-week travel assignment supporting Surgical Services and Central Sterile Processing operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with surgical instrumentation, sterilization procedures, and central sterile processing workflows in a fast-paced hospital environment. This role requires excellent technical ability, attention to detail, and the capability to support high-volume surgical operations efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
• Operate autoclaves and gas sterilization systems following safety protocols
• Support operating room and central sterile processing workflows
• Perform decontamination, assembly, inspection, and packaging of surgical instruments
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and sterilization standards
• Assist surgical teams with instrument readiness and supply management
• Maintain inventory control and organize surgical equipment and supplies
• Safely handle heavy equipment, carts, and instrument trays
• Maintain accurate sterilization and processing documentation

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Central Processing experience required
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, autoclaves, and gas sterilizers required
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Physical ability to lift, pull, and push heavy equipment as needed

Certifications Required

• CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) Certification required
• Central Service Technician Certification required

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist course completion preferred
• On-the-job Surgical Tech training experience accepted
• Minimum 3 years of Level 1 Trauma Center experience preferred
• Prior experience in high-volume acute care hospital settings preferred
