Summary

The Research Assistant will perform laboratory management duties and conduct basic scientific research in cancer and RNA biology. Research will focus on how non-coding RNAs regulate cancer progression using in vitro assays and mouse models and may include studies involving human cancer specimens, including tissues and body fluids.

Job Responsibilities:

Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
Perform cell culture, laboratory bench work, molecular biology and biochemical experiments. 
Works with mice, set up crosses and performs genotyping. 
Maintains inventory of lab supplies and orders supplies as needed.
Keep detailed laboratory records and research data in an organized manner.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, biomedical sciences, or a closely related field from a four-year college or university. 
 Experience performing basic molecular biology and laboratory techniques, such as nucleic acid isolation, PCR, Western blotting, and cell culture. Proficiency with computers. 
Ability to work effectively as part of a team, maintain detailed and accurate records, perform basic laboratory calculations, and follow established laboratory protocols.

Preferred Qualifications: 
Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and basic statistical analysis. 
Additional training in molecular biology, cell biology, cancer biology, bioinformatics, or a related biomedical science. 
Prior experience working with mice or other animal models is preferred. Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for biomedical/cancer research.

Final salary offers may vary depending on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, internal equity, and budget availability.

Expected range dollars an hour. $20.00
